MORE ABOUT US

We have now been running charity fishing events for 6 years and raised £££69,450 to date.

Our initial aim was to raise £10,000 for the local Scunthorpe hospital by way of a thank you for their support and successful treatment of my wife Mandy with breast cancer. We reached this target in the first 2 years. Now anglers just want to do more each year and won’t let us stop! It just goes to show what a great bunch anglers are and how many generous people there are.

The Big Bash is now the biggest charity open fishing match in the UK at the present time, with 421 anglers taking part in 2008 and a massive 471 in 2009.

In 2010 the work we do was recognized at national level when Kev was nominated for a national award through HIQ tyres (part of the Goodyear group) . Kev won the regional heats and became the out right winner for the east of England , unfortunately he was pipped to the winning post in the final .

Why is it called the Big Bash? Well that’s the name that it was given by a few anglers initially and it seems to have stuck, but it seems to fit rather well.

The events are held at the prolific Lindholme Lakes near Doncaster, which is, in my opinion the best venue in the north of England if not the UK. Due to the great success of these events there is nowhere else big enough apart from Lindholme lakes to hold the Big Bash events in this area.

The events have attracted so many big names in angling over the years including 5 times world champion ALAN SCOTHORNE, & his wife SANDRA. Fish “o” Mania winner ROB HITCHENS, STEVE ROTHERY and double Fish “o” Mania winner Matt Hall, to name but a few.

We are very proud to have Cats and Dogs Netbuster Baits as our new big bash sponsors for 2011

We have also raised money through other events such as sponsored power lifting, and even locked up a local businessman in Doncaster jail for the day where he had to buy himself out by using his contacts raising over £2000.

We are looking forward to a new series of events of a charity band nights, which are going to start running in 2010, and if these prove to be successful we hope to organize more.

Please have a look round the site and feel free to contact me if you would like to offer any help or make a donation.

You can now advertise with us on our dedicated links page or even become a sponsor to appear at the bottom of every page. If you would like to know more please call 07878706752 for full details.
